Bio
Hailing from Temora in the Riverina, Jake Barrett entered the AFL as a GWS Academy graduate and the cousin of Hawthorn star Luke Breust. Renowned for his elite endurance and contested ball-winning ability, he struggled to crack the Giants' star-studded midfield rotation, managing just one senior appearance in three seasons. Seeking greater opportunity, Barrett was traded to the Brisbane Lions ahead of the 2017 season, where he reinvented himself as a high-pressure defensive forward. He enjoyed a consistent run in the senior side during his first year in Queensland, often tasked with nullifying opposition rebounders while hitting the scoreboard, but fell out of favour the following season and was delisted at the end of 2018.
