Bio
Overlooked in his initial draft year, Jake Riccardi carved out a pathway to the elite level via the VFL, winning the prestigious Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal with Werribee before Greater Western Sydney selected him as a mature-age recruit in 2019. Although he made an immediate impact upon debut, Riccardi initially struggled to lock down a permanent position, finding himself on the fringe of selection and occasionally trialled in defence during the club's transitional phase. He eventually flourished under coach Adam Kingsley, settling into a role as a mobile key forward who utilized his elite aerobic capacity and strong overhead marking to serve as an ideal foil for the club's primary spearheads. Having successfully navigated the uncertainty of his early seasons to become a centurion goalkicker, Riccardi established himself as a reliable structural target, providing essential height and work rate inside the Giants' forward 50.
