Bio
Selected by the Western Bulldogs with pick five in the 2012 National Draft, Jake Stringer arrived in the AFL after overcoming a severe leg injury that had threatened his junior career. He quickly became one of the league's most exciting talents, earning the nickname "The Package" for his rare combination of explosive power, evasion, and goal sense. His time at the Whitten Oval peaked with an All-Australian blazer in 2015 and a premiership medallion in 2016, but the relationship deteriorated rapidly the following year, leading to a high-profile trade to Essendon. At the Bombers, Stringer oscillated between match-winning brilliance and injury-interrupted frustrations, notably producing a stellar 2021 campaign where he proved devastating as a clearance-winning forward-midfielder.
Despite leading Essendon's goalkicking on three occasions, a contract impasse regarding tenure saw him traded to GWS ahead of the 2025 season. A unique footballer capable of breaking lines and kicking difficult goals from outside 50, Stringer's playstyle relies heavily on burst speed and physical dominance in one-on-one contests. Now at his third club, he joins the Giants as a veteran impact player, looking to provide X-factor and experienced support to a contending forward line.
