Bio
Selected by Greater Western Sydney with pick 17 in the 2023 National Draft, James Leake arrived from the Tasmania Devils carrying a reputation as one of the most versatile prospects in his class. While he initially caught the eye as an intercepting defender, a shift into the midfield and forward line during his draft year highlighted his strong overhead marking and competitive nature. Despite this high potential, Leake found it difficult to break into the Giants' senior lineup during his initial seasons, managing only a handful of appearances between 2024 and 2026. With the Giants boasting a settled side, he has largely developed his craft in the VFL, aiming to cement a permanent role as a swingman capable of impacting the game at either end of the ground.
