Bio
Originally a NSW scholarship holder drafted from the NSW/ACT Rams, James Meiklejohn was a towering ruckman who joined the Swans via the 2003 Rookie Draft. Developed as a local project player, he was elevated to the senior list to play six games across two seasons, largely providing relief for the club's established big men during injury spells. While he offered a strong physical presence at stoppages, Meiklejohn struggled to impact the game around the ground and could not secure a permanent spot in a Swans side that was rapidly building toward premiership contention. After being delisted at the end of 2004, he moved to South Australia and forged a successful state league career with the Port Adelaide Magpies, famously winning the Magarey Medal in 2010 which earned him a brief, albeit unplayed, return to an AFL list with the Power.
