Bio
Recruited from Sturt with pick 37 in the 2014 National Draft, James Rose arrived at Sydney as a creative medium forward with genuine goal sense. He made a memorable start to his career in 2015, coming on as the substitute to boot three goals on debut against Greater Western Sydney, sparking hopes of a bright future in the red and white. However, Rose found it difficult to bridge the gap between state league dominance and regular senior selection, often lingering on the fringe of the Swans' best 22. While he established himself as a prolific performer in the NEAFL—frequently racking up high possession counts and goals in the reserves—he struggled to translate that impact to the elite level over sustained periods. After managing just 14 games across five seasons, he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
