Bio
Recruited from the North Ballarat Rebels with the sixth pick in the 1997 National Draft, James Walker arrived at Fremantle with a reputation built on elite speed and athleticism. Throughout his ten-season career, he primarily utilized this pace off the half-back line and wing, providing crucial run-and-carry for the Dockers during their formative years. While his disposal was occasionally scrutinised, his ability to break lines and cover the ground ensured he remained a constant presence in the side, eventually playing a part in the club's historic maiden finals campaign in 2003.
In the latter stages of his career, Walker successfully reinvented himself as a disciplined run-with player, using his natural sprinting ability to shadow the competition's quickest midfielders. This evolution allowed him to perform vital tagging roles on elite opponents who were otherwise difficult to contain, significantly extending his time at the elite level. He retired in 2007 after qualifying for life membership, remembered as a dedicated clubman who adapted his game to serve the team's requirements through a decade of service.
