Recruited from the Northern Eagles with pick 29 in the 2000 National Draft, Jamie Charman established himself as a physically imposing ruckman for the Brisbane Lions. A local Queensland product, he broke into the senior side during the club's dominant era, famously playing a key role in the 2003 Premiership victory over Collingwood. Charman was renowned for his aggression and combative nature in ruck contests, often prioritising physical presence and follow-up work at ground level to support his midfielders rather than relying solely on finesse.

His standing at the club was solidified in 2006 when he tied with Simon Black for the Merrett-Murray Medal, the Lions' best and fairest award. However, the latter stages of his career were frustrated by recurring injuries, particularly to his ankle and Achilles, which restricted his ability to cover the ground. After struggling to regain full fitness and fighting for selection against emerging ruckmen like Matthew Leuenberger, Charman retired during the 2011 season, remembered as a hard-nosed competitor who helped anchor the Lions' midfield for a decade.
