Bio
Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick 37 in the 2009 National Draft, Jamie Macmillan established himself as a fixture in the North Melbourne lineup for over a decade. A high-work-rate defender who transitioned between the wing and half-back, Macmillan was valued more for his tactical discipline and on-field voice than for highlight-reel moments. While occasionally maligned by external observers for his disposal efficiency under pressure, his ability to generate outside run and organise the defensive structure made him a trusted lieutenant for coaches Brad Scott and Rhyce Shaw.
His standing within the club was reflected by his long tenure in the leadership group, serving as a stable presence during the Roos' preliminary final campaigns in 2014 and 2015. Macmillan eventually became one of the club's key cultural drivers, often acting as a conduit between the playing group and coaching staff. After falling out of the best 22 during the COVID-interrupted 2020 season, he departed Arden Street as a Life Member, widely respected for his intelligence and professionalism.
