Recruited from East Fremantle via the rookie list, Jamie McNamara was a hard-running midfielder who experienced a baptism of fire early in his AFL career. After debuting late in the 2007 season, he was thrust into the spotlight as a late inclusion for the injured Beau Waters in the Eagles' dramatic extra-time Semi Final loss to Collingwood, where the youngster acquitted himself well with 16 disposals. Known for his elite tank and ability to execute disciplined run-with roles on dangerous small forwards, McNamara showed flashes of potential but struggled to transition from a tagger to a primary ball-winner during West Coast's turbulent post-premiership rebuild. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the senior 22, he was delisted at the end of 2009 and returned to the state leagues, eventually serving as captain of East Fremantle and playing for Williamstown in the VFL.
