Bio
Richmond’s first-ever Irish recruit, Jamie O'Reilly was a talented Gaelic footballer from County Down who joined the club as an international rookie. Spotted by Tigers recruiting manager Francis Jackson, he was converted into a running half-back where his natural athleticism and spatial awareness allowed him to adapt quickly to the oval ball. After strong form in the VFL, he was elevated to the senior list and made his debut late in 2010, impressing with his dash and ability to link up play from defence. Despite being offered a contract extension, O'Reilly surprisingly walked away from the AFL after just two seasons, choosing to return to Ireland to complete his university studies and resume his Gaelic football career rather than chase the uncertainty of professional sport.
