Bio
Jamie "Spider" Shaw is best remembered as a VFA goal-kicking colossus who produced one of the most spectacular cameos in VFL history. Recruited to Fitzroy from Preston after a massive 145-goal season in the Association, the towering 193cm full forward made an immediate impact upon his senior debut in Round 18, 1987. In a dominant display against Geelong at Princes Park, Shaw booted five goals to equal the club's debut record, showcasing the strong hands and dead-eye accuracy that had made him a terror in the lower leagues. However, his stint at the elite level was fleeting; he played just one more game for the Roys before returning to Preston. Shaw resumed his dominance in the VFA, eventually finishing his career with three Frosty Miller Medals and over 600 goals, leaving football historians to regard him as one of the most talented forwards to only briefly grace the big stage.
