Teams

Recruited from Woodville-West Torrens via the small South Australian town of Coobowie, Jamie Tape was a courageous and disciplined defender who made his name as a tight-checking backman. Selected by Richmond with pick 28 in the 1993 National Draft, he quickly earned a reputation for his fearless attack on the ball and ability to shut down opposition small forwards, becoming a regular fixture in the Tigers' lineup during their run to the 1995 Preliminary Final. After four seasons at Punt Road, Tape was traded to Collingwood at the end of 1997 in a deal involving Aaron James, providing experienced defensive cover for the Magpies. He played two seasons at Victoria Park during a challenging era for the club before his AFL career concluded, leaving behind a legacy as a selfless, team-first player who never shirked a contest.
