Stats
Bio
Recruited from local stronghold Geelong West, Jamie Thompson was a solid defensive contributor who earned his opportunity with the Pivotonians during the tumultuous 1915 season. Breaking into the senior side as a 23-year-old, he quickly became a fixture in the lineup, playing 12 matches in a year heavily overshadowed by the escalation of the Great War. While he did not register a goal during his tenure, his ability to stifle opposition attacks saw him hold his place as Geelong secured a top-four finish. Thompson's career was ultimately cut short by the club's decision to withdraw from the VFL in 1916 for patriotic reasons; unable or unwilling to resume his place at the top level when the team returned, he remains one of the many players whose footballing prime was curtailed by the wartime suspension of the league.
