Bio
Recruited from West Perth in the WAFL, Jan Smith arrived at Geelong as a mature-age ruckman and forward option for the 1980 season. He struggled to command a regular place in the Cats' senior side, making just five appearances over two years before crossing to Fitzroy in search of greater opportunities. The change of scenery yielded limited results, as Smith added only four games and a solitary goal to his career tally during the 1982 season. Unable to secure a long-term position at either club, his brief VFL career concluded at the end of that year.
