Bio
Recruited from Norwood with a top-ten selection in the 1995 National Draft, Jared Crouch spent two years developing in the reserves before establishing himself as one of the most durable players in AFL history. Upon making his debut in 1998, the tenacious small defender did not miss a match for the next eight years, setting a league record of 194 consecutive games from debut. Crouch made his name as a disciplined tagger capable of nullifying the competition's most dangerous small forwards, most notably engaging in a celebrated recurring duel with Brisbane Brownlow Medallist Jason Akermanis.
A key pillar of the Swans' formidable defensive unit under Paul Roos, Crouch played a crucial role in the club's drought-breaking 2005 premiership victory. He embodied the disciplined, selfless ethos of the "Bloods" culture, relying on elite fitness and concentration rather than flashiness. Although injury eventually halted his remarkable streak in 2006, he remained a respected leader and mentor at the club until his retirement in 2009, departing as a quintessential one-club servant.
