Recruited from Woodville-West Torrens with pick 54 in the 2008 National Draft, Jarrad Redden was a towering ruckman whose AFL career was ultimately derailed by persistent injuries. Standing 205cm, he offered a significant physical presence and deft tap work, showing glimpses of his potential as a long-term prospect during the 2012 season where he played the bulk of his career matches. However, his development was constantly interrupted by chronic setbacks, including shoulder reconstructions and hip surgery, which prevented him from gaining continuity at the top level. After failing to register a senior appearance throughout the 2014 and 2015 seasons due to ongoing knee issues, Redden was delisted by Port Adelaide, leaving the club as a talented big man whose body could not withstand the rigours of elite football.
