Stats
Bio
Recruited as a mature-age rookie from Essendon's VFL affiliate, the Bendigo Bombers, Jarrod Atkinson was a dashing utility who offered the senior side elite straight-line speed. Capable of playing off half-back or on a wing, his game was defined by his ability to break lines and his long, penetrative kicking, attributes that saw him quickly elevated to the senior list. Despite showing glimpses of his athletic potential, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the 22 due to inconsistent form and occasional injury interruptions. His AFL career concluded when he was delisted at the end of the 2010 season as the club reshaped its list, though he remained a notable example of the VFL pathway system in action.
