Bio
Recruited to Fitzroy under the father-son rule, Jarrod Molloy began his career carrying the legacy of his father Shane during the Lions' tumultuous final years. He quickly established himself as a physically imposing figure, showing a hardness at the contest that belied his age. Following the club's merger, he relocated to Brisbane where he continued to develop as a versatile key position player, but he was eventually traded to Collingwood prior to the 2001 season in a significant deal involving Mal Michael.
Molloy's arrival at Collingwood provided the developing Magpies with much-needed grunt and experience under Mick Malthouse. A battering ram of a player, he was capable of holding down centre half-back or drifting forward to use his strength in one-on-one marking duels, resulting in a career tally of 200 goals. He played a vital role in Collingwood's resurgence, featuring in the 2002 Grand Final side, but his physical style of play eventually took a heavy toll on his body. Hampered by chronic injuries, particularly to his ankles, he finished his career as a fearless competitor who consistently put his body on the line for the contest.
