Stats
Bio
Drafted from the Calder Cannons with pick 59 in the 2006 National Draft, Jarryd Allen was a versatile key position prospect capable of playing at both ends of the ground. He broke into a contending St Kilda side midway through the 2008 season, playing four games as a tall option. However, his career was effectively ended during the 2008 Semi Final against Collingwood, where he sustained a severe hip injury in a collision. Despite missing the entire 2009 season attempting to rehabilitate, the damage to his hip cartilage was too extensive, forcing him to retire at just 21 years of age to preserve his long-term health. The Saints later selected him in the 2010 Rookie Draft to fulfill contractual obligations, but he did not take the field again.
