Family

Recruited by Collingwood with pick 27 in the 2009 Rookie Draft, Jarryd Blair became one of the club's significant rookie list success stories. Overlooked in the National Draft largely due to his 174cm stature, Blair compensated for his lack of height with ferocious tackling and an elite work rate. He debuted in 2010 and immediately cemented his place in the side, playing a crucial role as a high-pressure small forward in the Magpies' premiership victory that year. His ability to lock the ball inside 50 and rotate through the midfield made him a reliable fixture in the lineup for the majority of his career, characterised by his contest work and defensive intent.

As the game evolved and Collingwood looked to inject more speed and dynamic movement into its forward line, Blair faced increasing competition for his spot in his later years. Despite his experience and standing as a senior leader, he found regular senior opportunities limited during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, often serving as depth in the VFL. He was delisted at the conclusion of the 2018 season, departing as a one-club player and Life Member who defied the critics regarding his size to forge a successful decade-long career.
