Bio
Born in Johannesburg and recruited from East Fremantle via the 2011 Rookie Draft, Jason Johannisen evolved from a speculative selection into one of the Western Bulldogs' most decorated modern players. Renowned for his electric pace and daring run-and-carry, he became the architect of the Bulldogs' transition game under Luke Beveridge, utilising his speed to break defensive zones. This attacking flair culminated in the 2016 Grand Final, where Johannisen's line-breaking influence and composure earned him the Norm Smith Medal in the club's historic drought-breaking premiership victory.
Throughout his tenure at the Kennel, Johannisen's role shifted between a rebounding defender and a high-pressure half-forward capable of hitting the scoreboard. While his later years were occasionally interrupted by hamstring injuries and fluctuations in form that saw him fighting for selection, his resilience ensured he remained a valuable senior figure. He concluded his career as a one-club player and life member, cemented in Bulldogs history as a premiership hero who provided the dash and dare during the club's most successful era.
