Bio
Selected by Essendon with pick 10 in the 2002 National Draft, Jason Laycock was a talented Tasmanian ruckman who offered the Bombers a versatile option capable of drifting forward to hit the scoreboard. Possessing excellent athleticism and marking power for his size, he showed flashes of brilliance throughout his time at Windy Hill, notably his ability to act as a tall target inside 50. However, Laycock's career was frequently frustrated by inconsistency and he struggled to fully command the number one ruck mantle. His time in the AFL was ultimately curtailed by severe chronic injuries, particularly navicular stress fractures in his foot, which sidelined him for the entirety of the 2009 and 2010 seasons before he was delisted.
