Bio
Recruited from the Eastern Ranges with pick 10 in the 1995 National Draft, Jason Snell was a lively half-forward with a natural eye for goal and the capacity to rotate through the midfield. He established himself as a regular contributor for Geelong in the late 1990s, providing energy and scoring power inside 50 alongside the club's key forwards. However, his time at the elite level is largely defined by its abrupt and unfortunate conclusion; in Round 3, 2001, he suffered a horrific ankle dislocation and fracture during a contest against Melbourne at the MCG. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and an exhaustive 18-month rehabilitation process in an attempt to return to senior football, the permanent structural damage proved insurmountable, forcing him to announce his retirement at the end of the 2002 season at just 25 years of age.
