Recruited from Devonport, Jason Watts was a key position utility who garnered a cult following at the Western Bulldogs during the mid-1990s. Capable of playing as a marking forward or a defender, he showed flashes of significant potential and goal-kicking ability but struggled to cement a permanent role in the senior lineup due to form and fitness fluctuations. Despite playing in the Bulldogs' 1998 finals campaign, his career is largely remembered for its controversial conclusion. Watts was delisted at the end of that season following a serious off-field indiscretion involving teammates and sedatives during post-season celebrations, effectively ending his time at the elite level before he continued his playing days in the SANFL.
