Bio
Jasper Williams emerged as one of the draft pool's late bolters following a dominant school football campaign. After falling out of the Sandringham Dragons program as a 16-year-old due to injury, the physically robust key defender starred for Brighton Grammar. He claimed best-on-ground honours in the Associated Public Schools grand final, which springboarded him back onto the Talent League radar in July. Earning a spot in Sandringham's squad late in the year, his form warranted an invitation to the state draft combine before his season was unfortunately cut short by stress fractures in his shin.
At 195cm, Williams is viewed as a raw athlete with immense upside as an intercepting presence in defence. Scouts praise his enormous hands, aerial composure, mobility and agility. Because of his limited background in the traditional talent pathway, recruiters are intrigued by his natural tools and development potential. While evaluators have noted he needs to prove his ability to transition his game from smaller school venues to full-sized grounds, his late-season rise has generated genuine interest as a prospective draft selection.
