Bio
Recruited from the Dandenong Stingrays with pick 32 in the 2022 National Draft, Jaxon Binns arrived at Carlton with a reputation as an elite endurance athlete, having dominated the 2km time trial at the draft combine. A prolific ball-winner at state league level, the running machine made an immediate impact in the reserves, winning Carlton's VFL Best and Fairest in his first season (2023) whilst biding his time for a senior call-up. He eventually made his AFL debut as a substitute against Geelong in 2024, deployed primarily as an outside runner and wingman who relied on his work rate to link play. Despite his ability to accumulate possessions in the VFL, Binns struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior side under Michael Voss, finding it difficult to displace established midfielders. After adding just five games in 2025, he was delisted at the end of the season despite having a year remaining on his contract, becoming a casualty of a list squeeze following the club's aggressive trade period.
