Bio
Arriving at Windy Hill as a father-son recruit, Jay Neagle carried the expectation associated with being the son of premiership hero Merv Neagle. A strongly built key forward with soft hands and a reliable set shot, he displayed genuine potential as a focal point in attack, most notably during a breakout period in 2009 where he became a regular fixture in the senior side. Despite his natural football nous and ability to use his body effectively in contested situations, Neagle frequently battled scrutiny regarding his skinfolds and conditioning standards. After being delisted at the end of 2010, he was handed a lifeline via the rookie list but failed to add to his game tally under new coach James Hird, ultimately departing the elite level with his talent largely unfulfilled due to persistent fitness struggles.
