Bio
Recruited from the Greater Western Victoria Rebels with pick 40 in the 2019 National Draft, Jay Rantall arrived at Collingwood with a reputation as a supreme endurance athlete, notably breaking the 2km time trial record at the Draft Combine. A former representative basketballer who played for Australia at under-17 level before switching his focus to football, he was developed as a high-work-rate midfielder capable of covering significant ground. Rantall made his AFL debut in the marquee Anzac Day clash against Essendon in 2021 but found regular senior opportunities limited within the Magpies' rotation. Despite his elite running capacity, he played just five games across two seasons and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2021 campaign.
