Bio
Originally recruited from the Sunraysia town of Red Cliffs, Jeff Berry was a defensive utility who initially cut his teeth at Punt Road. While he tasted early success as a member of Richmond's 1977 reserves premiership side, he struggled to break into a formidable senior lineup, managing just ten games across two seasons. Seeking greater opportunity, Berry crossed to Footscray in 1980, where he quickly found his niche as a reliable back-pocket and half-back flanker. He played the best football of his VFL career at the Western Oval, becoming a consistent figure in the Bulldogs' defence for three seasons before eventually moving to the VFA with Preston.
