Bio
Recruited from North Ballarat, Jeff Dunne established himself as a hard-running back pocket for St Kilda in the late 1970s. A consistent and tenacious defender, he became a standout performer during a difficult era for the club, winning back-to-back Best and Fairest awards in 1979 and 1980. His defensive reliability also earned him selection for Victoria in State of Origin football, cementing his reputation as one of the Saints' most important contributors of the period.
After falling out of the senior side and spending time in the reserves at Moorabbin in 1983, Dunne crossed to Richmond for the 1984 season in search of greater opportunity. His stint at Punt Road was short-lived, yielding just one senior game before employment obligations prompted a move to Tasmania. He continued his involvement in the game as a coach for East Launceston and North Launceston in the TFL, remembered primarily as a dual club champion who gave his all for the Saints.
