Bio
Recruited from Dromana, Jeff Hilton began his career at St Kilda but struggled to break into a senior lineup anchored by star forwards Tony Lockett and Stewart Loewe. Seeking greater opportunity after limited appearances at Moorabbin, he moved to Melbourne with pick 99 in the 1992 National Draft, effectively restarting his career from the bottom of the list. The switch paid dividends as Hilton graduated from a reserves premiership in 1993 to become a dynamic half-forward in the senior side, noted for his flair and ability to hit the scoreboard during the Demons' 1994 finals series. He produced his most consistent football in 1995, finishing tenth in the club's Best and Fairest, but fell out of favour the following season. Hilton's AFL journey ended abruptly in 1996 when a proposed trade to Footscray was blocked by the Bulldogs' board, resulting in his delisting.
