Bio
Recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies via the 2003 Rookie Draft, Jeremy Clayton arrived at North Melbourne as a diminutive mature-age prospect who had already established himself as a prolific ball-winner at SANFL level. Standing at just 173cm, he was a traditional rover known for his clean hands, elite vision, and ability to find space in congestion, though his size and lack of breakaway speed often counted against him at the highest level. Despite showing glimpses of his accumulation ability in his eight senior appearances, Clayton was unable to cement a regular spot in the Kangaroos' midfield rotation and was delisted at the end of the 2004 season. He immediately returned to the SANFL, where he solidified his reputation as one of the competition's premier midfielders by winning the Magarey Medal in 2005.
