Teams

A proud Yorta Yorta man and product of the GWS Giants Academy from Culcairn, Jeremy Finlayson entered the AFL as a late draft pick who required time to develop his craft. Originally deployed as a rebounding defender where his elite left-foot kicking was an asset, he reinvented himself as a tall forward in 2019. This switch proved pivotal, seeing him boot 44 goals and feature in the Giants' Grand Final side that year. His athleticism and ability to gather the ball below his knees made him a difficult matchup for traditional key defenders, though he occasionally battled for consistency in a talented forward line.

At the end of 2021, Finlayson requested a trade to Port Adelaide for family reasons, a move that saw him evolve into a genuine utility. At Alberton, he was frequently tasked with pinch-hitting in the ruck, using his mobility to outwork larger opponents around the ground. He finished as the Power's leading goalkicker in 2023, but his tenure was also defined by resilience as he balanced football with significant personal challenges. His time at Port Adelaide concluded when he was delisted following the 2025 season, leaving the game as a versatile swingman who made an impact at two clubs.
