Stats
Bio
A qualified dentist recruited from the University Blacks in the amateur competition, Jerry McAuliffe brought intelligence and maturity to a struggling Hawthorn lineup in 1934. He joined the club midway through the year and quickly cemented a spot in the senior side, featuring in 10 matches for the Mayblooms during a difficult season that saw the club finish last on the ladder. While he showed promise at the VFL level, his time at Glenferrie Oval was cut short by professional obligations rather than form. At the conclusion of his only season, McAuliffe moved to the Riverina town of Leeton to establish his dental practice, where he continued his football journey as a captain-coach and immediately led the local side to a premiership.
