Recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies with pick 20 in the 2010 Rookie Draft, Jesse Stringer was a combative midfielder who faced the daunting challenge of breaking into Geelong's star-studded engine room. After proving his worth at VFL level, he was elevated to the senior list and made his debut in 2012, establishing a reputation as a fierce tackler who applied significant defensive pressure and could contribute as a rotation forward. Although he managed 13 appearances in 2013—including a qualifying final—he found himself squeezed out of the side by the Cats' immense depth and emerging young talent. Stringer was delisted following the 2014 season, concluding a brief tenure where senior opportunities were scarce behind some of the modern era's greatest on-ballers.
