Bio
Recruited from South Warrnambool in the Hampden Football League, Jim Board arrived at Victoria Park during a tumultuous period for the club, with the Magpies destined for the wooden spoon in 1976. A wingman and half-forward, Board made his senior debut in Round 2 but is best remembered for a singular breakout performance just two weeks later against Richmond. In a rare highlight for the senior side that season, he gathered 19 disposals and booted four goals to help Collingwood secure a victory over the Tigers at the MCG. Despite this match-winning display, he struggled to maintain a permanent spot in the senior lineup, adding just one more goal across his remaining appearances. While his VFL career was brief, Board tasted success at the lower level, featuring in Collingwood's 1976 reserves premiership side before eventually departing the club.
