Bio
Recruited from Kensington Methodists, Jim Condon was a handy forward who broke into the Essendon side during the tumultuous era of the First World War. He showed immediate promise in his debut 1915 season, serving as a reliable avenue to goal with 13 majors from 14 games as the Same Olds reached the finals. However, his career momentum was severed when the club voluntarily withdrew from the VFL competition for the 1916 and 1917 seasons in support of the war effort. Condon returned when Essendon rejoined the league in 1918 but managed only three further senior appearances, leaving him as a capable forward whose tenure was ultimately defined and curtailed by the wartime suspension of play.
