Bio
Jim Deane was South Australian football royalty who played a tantalising cameo for Richmond in the mid-1950s. Already a Magarey Medallist and South Adelaide captain when he crossed the border, the Tigers had courted the skilled centreman for nearly a decade before finally securing his signature for the 1954 season. He immediately lived up to the hype, utilising his sublime left-foot kicking and clever evasiveness to drive the club up the ladder, operating predominantly across the centre and half-forward lines with a level of polish rarely seen in a struggling side. Although his VFL stint was limited to just two high-quality seasons before he returned home to win a second Magarey Medal, Deane is widely recognised as one of the most talented interstate recruits to ever don the yellow and black.
