Bio
An established figure for Fitzroy during the VFA era, Jim Grace transitioned into the newly formed VFL in 1897 as a foundation player for the Maroons. The elder brother of champion rover Mick Grace, he operated as a strong follower and forward who could be relied upon to hit the scoreboard during the low-scoring formative years of the competition. Grace etched his name into club history with a match-winning performance in the 1898 Grand Final, booting three goals against Essendon to help secure Fitzroy's maiden VFL premiership. He featured in a second consecutive flag triumph in 1899 before retiring, departing the league with the enviable record of two premiership medallions from just three seasons.
