Bio
A diminutive rover recruited from the Hamilton Imperials, Jim Jenkinson arrived at Melbourne via a convoluted path after a recruiting dispute with St Kilda saw his father block an initial move to the Saints. Finally joining the Demons in 1962, he proved to be a prolific scorer at the lower level, topping the club's reserves goalkicking list in his debut season. Despite his ability to find the goals, Jenkinson found it nearly impossible to crack a senior midfield rotation stacked with premiership stars during the powerhouse Norm Smith era, managing just three appearances across two seasons. He was delisted midway through 1963 and briefly listed by North Melbourne before finding success in the VFA with Williamstown, where he finished runner-up in the club's best and fairest award.
