Bio
Jim Keogh was a tenacious half-back flanker whose journey to Victoria Park was defined by remarkable resilience following his service in the First World War. Educated at the prestigious football nursery of St Patrick's College in Ballarat, Keogh served as a gunner in France where he suffered severe gas poisoning in 1918, requiring months of recovery in a London hospital. Despite this significant physical toll, he returned to local football with Canterbury before earning his shot with Collingwood in 1921, where he was utilised as a defender and occasional forward noted for his gameness and grit. Although he struggled to hold his spot in the Magpies' senior side, playing just four games, he carved out a respectable tenure in the VFA with Brunswick over the following four seasons before eventually moving to the ACT to coach Ainslie.
