Bio
Jim Kettle was a Brunswick-born wingman who carved out a respectable, if interrupted, career with Fitzroy during the immediate post-war era. Making his debut as a teenager in early 1945, he managed just two senior appearances in his first season and missed out on the club's famous "Bloodbath" premiership glory later that year. After spending the entire 1946 season out of the senior side, Kettle fought his way back into the lineup in 1947 and became a serviceable utility player for the Lions over the next six years. While never a headline star, he was a handy goal-kicker from the wing, averaging better than a goal every second game despite his role further up the ground. He remained a depth player for much of his tenure, persistently fighting for a spot in the 22 until his final season in 1952.
