Bio
A Fitzroy native who arrived at Carlton by way of the Collingwood Juniors, Jim Loriot was one of many hopefuls trialled by the Blues during a transitional 1901 season. He broke into the senior side for the Round 1 clash against his home suburb's team, Fitzroy, and was retained for the opening four matches of the year. Unable to cement a regular place in the lineup during a difficult period for the club, he did not feature at VFL level again after his initial run of games. His brief tenure at Princes Park typified the experience of many fringe players of the era, brought in to plug gaps during a rebuilding phase before fading from the league's top tier.
