Bio
Recruited from the Collingwood Trades Football Club where he had served as captain, Jim Lynch entered the VFL with Fitzroy in 1909 as a wingman and rover. He played eight games for the Maroons in his debut season before crossing town to South Melbourne the following year, a move that would yield just a single senior appearance. While his top-level career was brief, his life was tragically cut short after moving to New South Wales; he died in Stockton at the age of 36, a victim of the pneumonic influenza pandemic in 1919.
