Teams

Recruited from Echuca, Jim Moodie was a country footballer whose VFL career was defined more by his leadership in the reserves than his impact at the senior level. Arriving at Melbourne in 1928, he was initially trialled as a forward but struggled to impact the scoreboard, managing just three goals across a sporadic five-season tenure. While he found it difficult to lock down a permanent spot in the seniors, he developed into a stalwart of the club's second tier, eventually earning selection in a VFL Seconds representative team in 1930. His time at the Demons culminated in captaining the reserves to the 1931 premiership, validating his status as a dedicated clubman. After making a solitary appearance in the opening round of 1932, Moodie departed Victoria to continue his career in New South Wales.
