Bio
A product of Geelong College, Jim Munday took a circuitous route to VFL football that saw him star in the VFA with Coburg and serve in the RAAF before finally making his senior debut. Arriving at Kardinia Park in 1944 following a player swap, the versatile key position talent made an immediate impact, claiming the Carji Greeves Medal as Geelong's best and fairest in his very first season. Though he stood 188cm and was capable of swinging forward to impact the scoreboard, Munday played his best football as a strong-marking defender who excelled in contested situations. The nephew of former Geelong player Jim Munday Sr., he provided crucial structure during the difficult war years before departing to coach Geelong West in 1947.
