Bio
Recruited from West Melbourne in the VFA, Jim Neylan was a journeyman utility who moved between the state’s two major competitions seeking regular senior football. He made his VFL debut with Fitzroy in 1906 but managed just the one game before returning to the Association, where he played consistent football for West Melbourne and Footscray. His form warranted a second opportunity at the elite level with Carlton in 1909, though he struggled to break into a strong Blues side and added only three more caps over two seasons. Neylan eventually departed Princes Park to conclude his career with Brighton in the VFA.
