Bio
Recruited from Horsham in the Wimmera region, Jim Norman was a versatile big man who packed a career's worth of success into just three seasons at Kardinia Park. A mobile utility capable of operating in the ruck, down back, or up forward, Norman was renowned for his physicality and possessed surprising pace for his 188cm frame. He became an integral part of Geelong’s golden era under Reg Hickey, playing in back-to-back premierships in 1951 and 1952. After featuring as a follower in the hard-fought 1951 Grand Final win over Essendon, he was swung into a forward pocket for the 1952 decider against Collingwood, where he was named one of the best afield in a dominant team performance. Norman walked away from VFL football after that second flag aged just 24, returning to country football where he later enjoyed success as a coach in the Ballarat league.
