Bio
Recruited from Western Australia, Jim O'Meara was a pivotal figure in South Melbourne’s celebrated "Foreign Legion" era, where an influx of interstate talent propelled the club to the top of the VFL. A creative and hard-running half-forward who could also rotate through the midfield, O’Meara enjoyed instant success at the Lake Oval, playing a crucial role in the Swans' drought-breaking 1933 Premiership victory over Richmond in just his first season. He remained a regular fixture in the powerful South Melbourne lineup for three years before crossing to Fitzroy during the 1936 season. O’Meara finished his league career with the Maroons, providing experienced depth to their forward setup until his retirement at the end of 1937.
